All of his works come with an artist biography, and their own box, making these a perfectly packaged gift!

Tasmanian born, James Dodson qualified as an architectural draftsman before travelling to Europe where he became involved in the building of Edward and Irene Hill’s studio Glassblowing in Greenwich, UK. That involvement was James’ introduction to hot glass that was to continue for nearly three years. James studied at the Orrefors Glass School in Sweden in 1981 before returning to Australia where he worked at the Jam Factory Workshops in Adelaide and with John Walsh glassblowing in Mt Gambier. He then returned to Tasmania and began the task of establishing his own workshop, Tasmanian Glass Blowers firstly at Clarendon in 1984 and more recently in Breadalbane near Launceston. James continues to produce well designed production pieces and free blown decorative functional objects that have a large following of local and international collectors.

James uses glass made from the world’s finest silica sand mined near Savage River on Tasmania’s West Coast using traditional techniques .Fluxes and furnace perform their chemistry, and the molten glass flows with the breath of the blower into moulds to make production pieces, or freely into one off forms that reflect his skill and sensitivity.
